Classic Poppy Floral Hairpin
An elegant and detailed classic poppy floral hairpin, made with the Tsumami-zaiku technique.
Each flower is embellished with millinery stamens at the centre, mounted onto a metallic U-pin. A wonderful complement for a feminine classic style outfit or a graceful, timeless little black dress.
The hairpins are made with lightweight silk fabric: Light Pink, Red, Light Blue, and Blue are made with glossy habutae silk; Pink and Purple are made with translucent silk organza. The fabric was carefully cut and intricately folded to create delicate details, which were then assembled into flowers to create the pins.

Tsumami-zaiku is an artisan skill originated in the Japanese aristocracy, dating back to the late 18th century. Today, the craft is still used extensively to make exquisite floral headpieces for Maikos (apprentice Geishas). Tsumami-Zaiku is a delightful union of Japanese tradition, culture, and nature. We aim to bring this over two-century-old craft into modern fashion, so as to create distinctive, unique, and alternative headpieces.
